Soccer Season

 

Jessica had a great year playing soccer.  She plays on a team coached by our neighbor, Candee Carter and plays with her son, Dawson.  Jessica loves soccer and can be really good at it when she is focused.  Her favorite place to play is the goalie. She too had a good season.

   They call themselves the "Firecrackers."

Champions

This year the 6th grade Marsh Valley Browns had a fabulous year.  They had a record of 8-1.  Last week they were able to play in the championship game in the Holt Arena against a Preston team.  They beat them in overtime to become the champions of their division. It was so amazing for these kids to experience the thrill and adrenaline of playing in the Holt Arena and winning a championship.
This team has had a lot of growth and play well together.  Justin loves playing football.

10k Fun Run

My fabulous running partner and I decided it was time to particpate in one of Pocatello's 10K runs.  I think we chose one of the hardest runs because it had lots of hills. I have been stressed about the hills and not sure if I could do it.  There are hills all around me that I have been running on but not continuously. 
Today was the big day. It was encouraging to be racing with five other Inkom friends and my sister, Emilee.  Hours after the race, I will just say this,  "it was great to just have been able to cross the finish line."  It was hard and at about the five and half mile mark I really just wanted to walk. We completed the run in about the time I was hoping and I feel good about the accomplishment.

It was also fabulous to see Chad and the kids there to cheer me on as I crossed the finish line.  The other Inkom girls who had already finished and their families were also there.  It was great to know I have the support of my family during an event that was hard for me but something I knew I could do.  See you all at the next race in August where it will be more flat.

4th July-Breaking Tradition

It has been an Orr tradition the last 5 or 6 years to gather in Moreland at Grandma and Grandpa's for a BBQ and fireworks.  The Orr boys have a little bit of pyromania in their blood.  They would pool their money together and get a truck load of fireworks from Alpine.  It was a firework show the kids always looked forward to as well as a few neighbors.

This year some of the siblings could not make it to Moreland so Chad and I decided to go camping.  We spent 4 days at Heise camping in the motorhome with a little bit of golf, swimming, biking, hiking, 4-wheeling, some relaxation and made a few memories.

Jessica's first attempt to golfing  on the short 9 hole course at Heise (yes she is right handed so she missed the ball in this photo and many other attempts).  Chad showed lots of patience and enjoyed his time on the course as well.  He and Just has so much fun they had to play twice.

  After two attempts, a little screaming and some determination, Just finally caught himself a lizard.

She loves picking flowers and is always giving me fun bouquets.

  

We went for a little bike ride and learned that Jess gets tired really fast maybe because she pedals twice as often as we do.

 

We hiked to the top of a hill. There are some beautiful views above Heise over looking the Snake River and the valleys. I love living in Idaho.

Yes, the river was high and swift.  Perfect time to go wading.  Hold on tight to the kids.  We don't want them to float away.  Who's idea was this?  Mom said it would be fun.  It actually was and cooled us off a bit.

We did go swimming in the cold pool, warm pool, hot pool and down the dragon slide.  Don't forget the sunbathing.

And in the end, Heise has their very own fireworks.  It wasn't like the Orr firework show  but since we didn't have to pay for the show, it was fabulous.

We love to explore the beautiful country in which we live especially right here in Idaho.  We appreciate the freedoms we have to explore and spend out time together as a family doing what we love.

Belnap Family Reunion

more fun, some food, and lots more fun.

Visit to the Dentist

A couple weeks ago, Jess and I were in town and happen to drive past the dentist's office on our way to the grocery store, she was insistent that she be able to go to the dentist that day just because she wanted to.  I tried to explain to her that she had an appointment in a couple weeks and we couldn't just show up.
I set up an appointment with the dentist to have the skin connecting the upper lip to her gum clipped.  We had been talking about it a lot and she was very excited to be going to the dentist.  How bizarre!!
Yesterday was the big day.  I told her I would pick her up early.  She insisted that I pick her up at one o'clock.  "If I pick you up at one, what will we do til our appointment."  Her response was so simple,"We go to the dentist."  I again explain the purpose of an appointment.
At the dentist she was so brave, and excited to be there.  The hygentist cleaned what's left of her teeth and started her on "happy gas".  She didn't like the mask but the gas made her very talkative. (Just like her mother.)  As the hygentist starting numbing her upper lip, Jess was still and patient.  She didn't even flinch at the pokes from the needle.  (Now I'm not sure who's child this is!  At one point, I tried to talk her out of the procedure and she threw a fit.)  The dentist started the procedure and she just asked for a mirror so she could see.  He also slit her top gums so that her two front teeth could come through.  Three stitches, the sight of two front teeth and a one prize later, we left the dentist with Jess out of patience and not sure why her lip now hurts. 
Jess was such a brave girl and held very still much longer than most 6 year olds.  I don't think she will be so anxious for the dentist next time.

Teethless

Jess lost her first two bottom teeth about a year ago and they came in fairly quickly. She has this obsession with loosing her teeth and is always trying to make them loose. About mid-December, she started loosing more teeth. First the two top ones. (We knew they would come out because the dentist told her in August, she'd get two front teeth for Christmas) However, it didn't stop there. Within a week or two, she was pulling out both her bottom "eye" teeth. Yes, she pulls them out herself. By January, she had pulled out a top "eye" tooth. In total, (she is only 6), she has lost 7 teeth and 5 are currently missing. Oh my!!!! She is determined to pull her last top "eye" tooth soon. It is quite humorous to watch her try to eat. We are back to cutting her food into small pieces. She is pretty proud of herself and the hole in her smile.
